The Chief of Bekwai-Abodom, Nana Saforo Koto, has been destooled by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene after he failed to defend himself against 20 charges levelled against him.

His neighborhood’s worried citizens petitioned the Manhyia palace on a number of claims, including the careless selling of property to unlicensed miners, whose operations have harmed water resources.
During the proceedings at a meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council, Otumfuo Kyeame Kwaku Owusu, a major representative of the Asantehene, stated that Nana Saforo Koto did not appropriately answer the charges when given the opportunity to do so.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II attentively considered the opinions of various divisional chiefs and thoroughly considered the evidence before finding Nana Saforo Koto guilty on all counts.
According to reports, other chiefs might lose their positions if they are proven to have participated in illicit mining activities.
