The ‘Haunted Mansion’ Makes $3.1 Million in Previews, but ‘Barbenheimer’ Stays Strong

No signs of slowing down fever shows, “Barbenheimer”. Warner Bros combined force. Barbie and the Oppenheimer are making up a a different large weekend at the box office. But the Disney’s latest release “The Hunted Mansion” will have to settle for third place.

The horror movie that is friendly to kids made $3.1 million in Thursday preview at the box office. Barbie on the other side meanwhile made $21.2 million on Thursday only, bringing the today sum made after just one week to $258 million; Oppenheimer made a total sum of $10 million on Thursday and has a weekly total sum of $127 million.

The movie, directed by Justin Simien, who made “Dear White People” and the horror comedy “Bad Hair,” “The Haunted Mansion” is the new movie inspired by a Disneyland theme park ride (which range from successes like the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise and “Jungle Cruise” to the more forgettable “Tomorrowland” with George Clooney).

“Haunted Mansion” is expected to make a sum of $25 million to $30 million in its opening weekend, but it carries an oversized price tag of $150 million before marketing. That may come to haunt its path to profitability at the box office.

After a mother and her son relocated into the titular haunted mansion, they unsurprisingly met a different kinds of ghosts, ghouls and ghastly creatures. To exterminate the evil entities, they enlist the help of a paranormal tour guide (Stanfield), a priest (Wilson), a psychic (Haddish) and a college historian (DeVito).
